Education Programs & Activities

The Education Committee provides a wide range of programs, including talks and activities for scouts, schools, senior centers and other community groups. We believe that getting people of all ages out into nature is vital to sustaining the amazing world outside our windows. Our goal with these various programs is to involve children and adults across our tri-county area (Chatham, Durham and Orange) in learning about birds, nature, and environmental impacts on both. We regularly:

  • Partner with other organizations for special events, such as Bird Watch at the Chapel Hill Public Library, the Youth Climate Summit at the Museum of Life and Science, and Chatham County’s AgFest.
  • Strive to make birding more accessible by bringing our activities to groups of people who may not have the resources or abilities to easily interact with nature and birding, including lack of transportation, language differences and physical capabilities.
  • Offer programming for youth and families, including family bird walks and nestbox building workshops.

Go to New Hope Bird Alliance’s Calendar of Events or subscribe to our Newsletter to see listings of these different events.  Volunteer to help if you are able!
